Out of Town

Kuro walked through the dark streets of Tokyo, Japan as the sun set off in the distance. She was a pretty long way off from Kagamino, and even farther from Karakura. It was annoying, having to run errands for her uncle. But, she had to look on the bright side, at least she got away from work from time to time. Kuro passed one window with a cute little dress in it but ignored it, knowing she'd be in trouble if she spent any money on things for herself.
Just then, she heard the cry of a hollow. Her bow was there in an instant, her legs flying out in front of her as she threw herself towards the noise. When she spotted it, she pulled her arm back as she readied herself to fire the arrow, or arrows. However many it took to kill this one off. She narrowed her eyes as she took in it's hideous appearance, she'd seen it before. "Not getting away this time," She hissed and let go. An arrow flew from her bow and struck the hollow square in the middle of it's mask. It's scream was drowned out as it disappeared, leaving her to let her bow fall to her side. She sighed. Too easy, too boring. Need a bigger challenge sometimes, She muttered in her head.

Drake had wandered off into the night, straying away from his usual hunting grounds of the Kagamino. He thought he needed to 'cleanse' the city of Tokyo as to confuse the cops into thinking the killer had moved. He walk through the night in hopes of finding a good meal. With a cigarette in his lips, Drake followed the faint cry of a dying Hollow. He had missed the bout between this girl and the beast but he could smell a human soul near the sound. He raced to the locating, occationally traveling in the shadows to quicken his progress. Upon his arrival he saw a beautiful girl with the same soul he had smelled a second ago. You can't kill her Drake, she hasn't done anything wrong.....yet. He thought to himself as he jumped into the shadows and emerged behind her, "Hello Miss, are you lost." He asked with a warm but fake smile.

Kuro turned around quickly, her bow flashing out of existance as she did. Her dark brown eyes narrowed and she tested herself, seeing if she could sense this man's reiatsu better then she used to. After Kuroden stuck her with his sword, she'd gained immortality from the vizard man she loved. She'd been able to keep her Quincy powers but everything else was similiar to the powers of a Shinigami. Minus the zanpakuto. It made her curious to think that she was the most powerful Quincy and that her senses were uped.
"No, I'm running an errand for my uncle. He owns the hospital in Karakura town." Kuro cocked her head, "How did you sneak up on me? I always know my surroundings."

Drake got a glimpse of the weapon before it vanished. He instantly knew she was one of the Quincy people that he had always saw as unique and interesting. He laughed at her question after she has answered his. "Well that is something I believe isn't of any concern," Drake smiled seeing as she hadn't realized he wasn't human and he was nearly invincible while shadows were present. "Well maybe I can help with this errand," he mentioned as he circled her while resisted the urge to strike at her soul. "I can get around and find things quite well in the darkness of night." Just as Drake said that a black Tribal style Serpent-like tattoo bolted across his face then back into his shirt, Calm down, we may be able to get her soul soon. He mentally told his doll companion.

"I do believe it is," Kuro growled. "But I won't push an answer out of you." She finally realized that this was different reiatsu. Not human, not vizard, not shinigami. And certainly not Quincy. Could he be an arrancar? Does that arrancar of Kuroden's have similiar reiatsu? She questioned within her mind as she listened to him. "I'm not certain. If it wasn't for the hollow," Kuro knew what she was doing, giving away that she knew this boy was not normal, "I would have found it by now. I'm looking for the shops that sell to the hospitals. The delivery boy didn't come by today and uncle got worried. We are running low since everyone is so sick."
Her eyes widened as she watched the flash go across his face, she hadn't seen what exactly it was but she knew it was not a hallucination. "It would help if you escorted me there." She knew where it was, she just wanted to learn more about this mysterious man.

He nodded as she said she wouldn't push on for answers and smiled as she proved her wits when she mentioned the hollow. "Well since you seem to be 'special' like me, try to keep up." He smirked as he literally hopped into the shadows as if it were water and emerged from the shadow of a parked car. He waved for her to follow. He decided to actually take her to the pharmacy this would allow him to assess her strength. He knew she could take a hollow out but this was something that Drake had be doing for years so it wasn't anything new. She had to have a secret that he didn't know about but he was sure he could muscle the information out of her. "Hmm maybe I should just walk." He thought aloud in hopes she'd respond.

Kuro watched him, cocking her head curiously as she watched him disappear and reappear from the shadows. She smirked and seemed to dance in fast motion over to him. Her dark brown eyes were full of amusement, "Fast enough for you?" She rolled her eyes when he spoke of walking, "If you wish." She let her arms remains at her sides, her hands looking slightly fragile, like the rest of her. Her shoudler length brown hair was windblown, once straight and perfect.

He slide his hands in his pockets and began walking, "Well we both know we aren't exactly human but I seem to know more about you, Quincy." He teased as he took a drag on his cigarette. He knew her curiosity would get the better of her and she be but putty in his hands soon enough. Drake looked back, still walking forward , as the hear her better. He had many question and hoped they'd get answered soon but this young Quincy.

"You know less then you think," Kuro retorted, following him slowly, catching up with him easily. Her dark brown eyes were guarded, wary of this man she knew nothing about. "I do know that you are not like anything I have ever seen. Your reiatsu doesn't match anyone I've sensed before, and it's nothing like a hollows. I don't know who or what you are and that bothers me beyond belief." She held her head high, the authority she used in the classroom at the high school showing up without her even trying, "My name is Kuroda Harumi, what is yours? Or would you rather stay mystery man?"

He smiled, "Well I am a gentleman so it is my right to tell you my name, Drake Nightingale." He turned, now walking backwards, and courteously bowed as his old ways surfaced a bit. His French accent faded in and out which usually made people more curious which is what Drake wanted. He wanted her to ask so that he may return the favor and learn of this woman. "And as for wait am I...lets just say centuries ago I was a normal human." He smiled again and his icy blue eyes let out a slight glow.

"Interesting name, very unique. Centuries old," She murmured, never letting her gaze leave him in case he did something unexpected. His accent confused her, her interest sparked. When he said something about centuries ago, she knew he definitely wasn't human. "Normal... no one normal, Mr. Nightingale." Kuro grimaced, "So.. you're not human, you're not shinigami. You're not vizard. Are you an arrancar, or is there something more? I only know of those."

"I am neither of those, actually I am a 'vampire'." He laughed like an old cartoon villains, just to be comical. He knew she would be very curious now so he went on, "I am a bit different from the monsters of myth that you may know of. I feast on Souls...but first let me know more of you before i go on." He smiled as he looked up to see a big red cross in the distance signifying the pharmacy is there. He could sense she wasn't like others and he didn't know why. He may be just paranoid but he couldn't help but wonder.

"Vampire? Really?" Kuro asked just before he started the weird laughing. She took a step away from him and remained there for a moment before returning to his side again. Her curiousity got the better of her and she listened quietly as he explained, "Souls, huh? Creepy."
Kuro spotted the pharmacy, irritation rising as she realized that they were closer then she would have liked. She knew very little, still. "Well.. I am the leader of the Rescue Team. I am a teacher at Karakura High School, teaching English." She didn't feel like she should continue. Giving too much away would be bad.

"Well that isn't what I meant when I said I wanted to know more about you." He said with a sigh as he was still slightly clueless about this woman. "But you are a teacher, huh? I haven't been to school lately but I know it isn't as easy as it once was." He joked as he jumped straight to what he really wanted to know, "I am what you humans and the Shinigami know as a Bount, we steal souls and kill to live. We gain strength from beings known as Dolls which possess powers beyond belief. Know you know almost everything about my kind so tell me why I am getting a strange feeling from you....one that other Quincies never gave me." He demanded as the curiosity was likely to kill him, or get him killed.

Kuro shrugged, "Not too sure. School for me is easy, unless I want the attention from the class. Then it's hopeless. But other then that, I can't really say. Students complain often, so it must be hard." She laughed a little, shaking her dark head and looking up at the starry sky.
Kuro cocked her head, "I do remember my cousin mentioning something about bounts. But I do not know anything of them." When he spoke again, she sighed, crossing her arms over her chest. "No, of course not. Other Quincies are not immortal as I am. They have not been stabbed by a shinigami's sword. Although I am not a shinigami and I can still use my bow, I still inherited some of the shinigami's traits. Immortality, their slow speed. I get to keep my own speed of course, but it never works as well anymore."

Drake laughed as she said immortality for as he saw it this woman was very naive. "Immortality, huh? Well it all depends oh how you see immortality. Because last time I checked the Reapers could die of old age just as humans do. This effect may have slowed you aging process but its far from immortality. But I must say, a shinigami blessing anyone with this is rare, may I ask why you were chosen?." Drake pondered aloud as he took one last drag of his cigarette before flicking it away into a puddle. He ran his hand through his hair because that was his last one and had to wait to get more.

"In my eyes, immortality is when you live for longer then your meant. They live longer then they ever would if they were human." She wasn't sure she liked this Bount... but as he asked his next question, Kuro gave him a once over. Her brown eyes took in every detail before she finally said, "Because I was but a mere Quincy. When you fall in love with someone who lives hundreds of years after you... it's easy to want to live forever. Though now I will have to watch my cousin die, and my uncle. Whenever they do die, that is." Kuro frowned as she watched him flick the cancer stick away, "Addiction is painful, yes?"
