10th Squad Training (Private: Koori Yuki)

It was late in the evening and it was near sunset. The training grounds were still being used but there weren't many still around. Nichondri was the only senior officer around however and the rest looked a bit like rookies or students from the academy. Which meant she wasnt here yet. It may not have been the best idea to ask to train with a captain here of all places but he was getting bored of being cooped up in the 10th division's barracks and he wanted to get out. He was to the side of the main training area doing some exercises and stretches getting ready. He was slightly worried about the training exercise as he hadnt really known the captain for long as he had only become 3rd seat not too long ago.

He was also anxious to begin however. He had flt like something was inside him, just waiting to come out. He knew it wasnt anything like an inner hollow, but more like something within his zanpakuto. Bankai? No, he knew it wasnt that, but maybe a new technique, maybe a closer bond, who knows. 'Jeez you'd think by now I'd understand my own zanpakuto by now.' He spoke to himself under his breath, when he realised he had already drawn it out. It glinted and hummed as if waiting and he smiled to himself slightly. And thats when he saw her in its reflection. So he spun instantly and stood to attention. 'Hello Captain, ready and waiting!'.

The last of the paperwork sat satisfyingly in her OUT box, her IN box completely devoid of new work - which was a relief as it was nearly time for her to meet with her third seat on the training grounds. It had struck her as an odd, out of place request at the time when he had proposed the idea of training with her; not many people wanted to train with a captain after all, but after thinking about it for a while she was actually quite happy that someone from her squad was taking the initiative to become stronger by training with a person of a higher level.

And, she also felt as though she needed to be more connected with the rest of her division - something being secluded in her office and doing paper work did not help with at all - so hopefully this would give her that opportunity, and also to show the other members of the division that she wasn't as unapproachable as they all seemed to believe.

The walk to the training grounds was pleasant, as the soft light tinged everything with a light orange glow as the sun slowly sank below the horizon line. She only passed a few on her way, but they kept studiously working as she strode by, something which pleased her immensely, and it wasn't long until she had arrived at the edges of the training field, one of many throughout Seireitei.

What she liked most about this location, opposed to the other grounds, was that the grounds were grassy rather than hard, and it allowed her better control of her elemental zanpakuto being in such an open, outside area. A small smirk flitted across her face as she saw her subordinate gazing at his zanpakuto with a small smile on his face, the blade already drawn from its sheath.

"Eager to begin?" A small touch of humour entered her voice, but not enough to be detected, but she liked these subtle bouts of tonal change in her voice - though she was aware that it was her mostly unemotional voice that had classed her as being 'cold' with her dealings towards others.

There was a very light wind caressing the grass, bending them over and lightly shifting her hair around her face. She stood opposite her third seat, her feet shoulder width apart to sow that, while she appeared casual - or as casual as she could get - she was in fact very ready for any attacks that may be thrown her way.

"You may begin attacking whenever you're ready. Also, don't hold back - I won't break - because the only way to become stronger is to throw in all you've got."

She made no attempt to draw her sword, preferring to see how he attacked her first, and drawing it when he was near enough to her, but not before then. Her extremely dark eyes were critical and unwavering as she waited.

He watched as the captain approached while speaking to him. He was about to answer her first question when she went on about striking first. He loosened up a little after standing to attention since she had first appeared and looked at her thoughtfully. He began to spin his blade in a circle and nodded at her words. 'Alright then, i guess theres no point in waiting for you to draw your zanpkauto, and if im meant to go all out i might as well ...' He brought his zanpaktuo up in fron of him, horizontally while moving his index and middle fingers along the blade while chanting 'Cut and burn, slice and sear!' the blade began to glow a whit colour and a spectral like handle appeared at the blades end, and when his fingers reached the handle, he grabbed it, drew out another zanpakuto and struck the handles together while saying 'Nelcarrion!'. Black flames then shot over the blades and his released zanpakuto was revealed. A wavy patterned blade in his right hand, and a jagged blade in his left, a chain connecting their hilts.

He wasted no time to let the captain to just stare and marvel at his zanpakuto and grabbed the chain at the end of the wavy blades hilt and spun it in a quick circle before letting it loose straight at the captain. Should it make a hit, even if blocked, a small explosion would be released from the blade, but against a captain this will be of little worry, even if it made a direct hit against the captain, the flames would do little damage to the captain. But the flames should obscure the sight of what he was doing next. He was relatively adept at hado, and began chanting as soon as he had released his blade 'Hado, 32: Okasen!' A wide arc of yellow energy then sped towards the captain. It was weaker than most hado spells, but it covered a wider area, meaning a higher chance of hitting its target. He began to sweat slightly, mainly because he had just attacked a captain of the Gotei 13 with a shikai, plus it was his own captain to boot. But the adrenaline rush pushed that thought to the back of his head. He was in a fight now, and Nelcarrion and Nichondri were not about to lose focus.

It impressed her that he cut straight to the fight without any banter before hand, instantly unsealing his zanpakuto. She thought that he may have been a little hasty to draw it, but than again she was comparing him to a captain class opponent. This meant that he was able to properly evaluate their strengths, and realised that he would need to have enough strength at the beginning of the fight to try and beat her before he became too tired; impressive.

The released state of the blade was a sight to behold, as was most any zanpakuto when in shikai, but she was hardly allowed to gaze long enough to analyse the size and possible weight of it before he was attacking her, throwing a chain towards her. Blocking it would be child's play, but she was unprepared for the miniature explosion which occurred once her blade connected with it. She felt her feet slide back a fraction of an inch due to her surprise at the suddenness of the unexpected explosions.

Jumping backwards in a graceful leap, Yuki moved away from the flames and their hated heat, and this move also allowed her to see past the smoke and flames which had obscurred her vision in time to dodge the wide arc of yellow light coming her way. She hadn't heard the name of the kido, but she was fairly certain that it was hado #32, though she wouldn't bet her life on it.

I guess it's time to get serious, isn't it? She hadn't realised that she had been doing it, but she had slightly underestimated her opponent, which wasn't a good way to train. Dashing forward, Yuki allowed the residual smoke left over from his explosion cover her movements as she ducked behind it; it would be impossible for him to see which side she would come out from. Let's just see how good your senses are.

Moving swiftly into a shunpo, Yuki exited to her left, an unseen blur due to how fast she was moving, but quickly changed course to the right in case he had been able to see her, though she was fairly certain he hadn't been able. When she was a few feet away she pushed a surge of reiatsu through her feet and jumped up, at the same time drawing her blade and bringing it swinging down towards him.

He didnt expect that the first attack would do much against her but she managed to slip around the purpose of the attack and managed to dodge the Hado quite easily. It was then that he lost sight of her and couldnt tell where she had gone. He though he saw a blur somewhere in the smoke but he wasnt sure so he quickly drew back his blade that he had earlier thrown. But as he grabbed its hilt again he sensed her reiatsu appear to his left and above him. He reacted almost completely out of instinct and used a quick shunpo to jump backwards and dodge the blow. As soon as he had managed to get out of the way of the blow he decided to use another quick kido attack 'Hado 33: Sokatsui!' He doubted it would do much but it would distract he for a second.

So then he tried her own trick on her. He used a shunpo to jump into directly above her and swung down with his left blade expecting to step backwards, before swinging his right blade in and upward arc once he had landed, aiming for her thigh. It could be easily dodged or blocked by a captain for sure, but the kido may have been enough to put her off balance slightly, giving him a slightly better chance. This may just be training but it was against a captain, so he had to be careful and make sure he didnt miss a single one of her moves. If he did, he would be in for a world of hurt.
